For the third time Warrick considered pulling out his gun and shooting the lecturer. Half the people in the auditorium snored merrily, completely oblivious to the longwinded speech about the latest news in fingerprint preservation.

Unfortunately Warrick had left his gun to Vegas, so that rosy mental image didn’t really work. The first day of the seven day seminar was almost over and he was ready kick the stuffing’s out of that individual who had signed him for it. A free trip to New York had sounded tempting, but the price came in the form of torture. If he had known any military secrets, he would have talked hours ago.

Finally the lecture ended and the people practically run out of the auditorium. Warrick waited till the rush-hour was over. For once he had actually been booked to stay in the same hotel where the conference was held. He got up and walked into the lobby. Most of the people were already gone. That suited Warrick`s plans nicely. He pulled a folded map from his bag and placed it on one of the tables. Before his departure from Vegas he had done some research, mapping all the possible spots.

His eyes wandered on the map, but he had a strange feeling that someone was watching him.

“Need help?”

Voice came from behind him and made him jump. A dark-haired man leaned against the table and gave Warrick a questioning once-over. Blue eyes returned to face Warrick`s.

“Need help with your map?”
“No, thanks, I’m fine.” Warrick grinned at the man’s black leather jacket. “Let me guess…. Vice squad.”
“Homicide.”
“Then what the hell are you doing here playing traffic warden?”
“New York crime lab handles the arrangements with the PD. I was voted into the scheduling committee.”
“And voted means-”
“They threatened to force me into the transportation and logistic committee if I didn’t say yes. Sixty tourists lost somewhere…. Doesn’t really tempt me.”
“Sounds reasonable. Brown, Las Vegas.” Warrick offered the guy his hand. Blue-eye shook it with a firm grip.
“Flack, New York PD.”
“I kinda figured that out.
“Never hurts to repeat. So do you need help?” He leaned down to check the points on the map. A crooked grin appeared on his face. “Looking for some fun?”

“Yeah.”
“What kind of fun?”
“The kind of fun that’s too risky to have in Vegas.” Warrick grabbed the map and shoved it back to his pocket. “Got a problem with that?”
“Nope.” The guy grinned. “Most of the seminar people goes straight from lecture room to strip clubs. Trust me, I’ve seen it all.”

“Well, thanks but I don’t need help.”
“I’ll be around if you change your mind.” Blue-eye turned to leave. “By the way, watch out when you go out there. The club scene is pretty brutal for tourists.”
“I was born and raised in Vegas, I can handle it.”
“New York is a whole different kind of beast. Try Spectre, that should be safe for a newcomer.”
“You’re a clubber?” Warrick couldn’t keep the scepticism away from his voice.

“No.” The guy laughed. “I usually see the clubs after someone’s been killed in one. Have fun.”

Blue-eye walked down the hallway and Warrick measured him with his eyes. His gaze moved down the leather clad back and paused to check out the guy’s butt. He took one last look at the man, and pulled his map out again.

Nice first meeting. Also, first time ever that I've seen this pairing. I look forward to seeing how things develop between these two.

I have to admit, this is a pairing I'd never have imagined. But you manage to pull it off. I cannot wait to see where it goes!

See? My Flack icon's happy too!

Interesting pairing, never seen it before. Though I don't read crossover in general, since most of the time it's so unrealistic... But this one seems good ^^

Ooooo this might turn out to be a good story. I just saw chapter 34 posted so I decided to start from the beginning. From the first line I knew I wanted to read the rest of it ^^
